What is microneedling?
Microneedlingis a cosmetic or medical treatment method that has been used very successfully for several years to effectively treatskin problems such as wrinkles, sagging skin, oily skin, spots and acne-prone skin, scars and acne scars, hair loss, stretch marks, cellulite and much more.
Microneedling involves treatingthe skin with either a dermaroller or dermapen.
A dermaroller is a roller with tiny needles that is rolled over the skin.
A dermapen is an electrically or battery-powered device in the form of a larger pen with a needle head fitted with tiny needles at the end.
Both microneedling devices have the same goal. This is the deliberate injury of the skin by making tiny holes, so-called puncture channels, in the skin with very fine, small needles.
What sounds horrible at first is only half as bad with cosmetic microneedling and far less painful than expected.
What does a microneedling treatment do?
As mentioned above, microneedling is a deliberate injury to the skin. The answer to the question of what microneedling does therefore depends on how your skin reacts to this deliberate injury.
The injury caused by the fine needles results in micro-bleeding, which your skin then tries to stop. This process is called haemostasis. In most cases, the haemorrhages are so small that no blood seeps out through the puncture channels and are therefore not visible, but are at most noticeable due to a slight reddening of the skin. Stopping the bleeding is an essential prerequisite for wound healing.
Your skin, injured by the stitch channels, then initiates the healing and regeneration process. Growth factors consisting of thrombocytes and granulocytes are released, which stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. This is why microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. In addition, the production of the body's own hyaluronic acid is stimulated and blood circulation is boosted. Over time, your skin becomes thicker again in the treated areas and is therefore able to store more moisture. Ultimately, the processes triggered in our body bymicroneedling make our skin look firmer, fresher, more radiant and younger again.
The active principle of microneedling - a combination of self-healing and active ingredient supply
The effect of microneedling is based not only on the self-healing process of your skin but also on being able to supplyyour skin with active ingredients via the puncture channels.
These active ingredients are worked into your skin withthe help of sterile microneedling serums. It is very important to only use sterile microneedling serums. These sterile serums are applied to the skin shortly before you treat your skin with a Dermaroller or Dermapen. The needles then work the active ingredients into the skin via the puncture channels.
Due to the diverse processes that take place in your skin and the different treatment goals and skin types, there are many special microneedling serums available. You can find the right microneedling serum for you in the microneedling products section.
This combination, resulting from the skin's self-healing powers and the supply of targeted, sterile microneedling serums with their active ingredients or active ingredient complexes, has led to microneedling treatments being among the most effective treatments the beauty industry has to offer.
