More beautiful hair - combating hair loss and increasing hair growth with microneedling
The headline "Stopping hair loss and increasing hair growth with the Dermaroller " is not quite correct, as it should actually read: Stopping hair loss and increasing hair growth with microneedling.
However, as most people search for Dermaroller in connection with hair loss (alopecia), we have also decided to use this heading.
This is because a Dermapenis actually a better choice than the Dermaroller foralmost all microneedling applications.

Utsukusy Cosmetics has its own hair therapy line consisting of shampoo, scalp scrub, disinfectant and a special microneedling serum to combat hair loss (alopecia) and improve hair growth.
Under the heading "Microneedling products" at the bottom of the page under "Microneedling hair" you will find lots of useful information on this topic and also detailed instructions on how to use the sterile KAMI microneedling serum for the scalp to combat hair loss, for more hair growth and for fuller hair.
Stopping hair loss with the dermaroller - how does it work?
As is usual with microneedling, the dermaroller deliberately injures the skin on the head with tiny needles.
This injury to the scalp triggers the body to heal the injury.
Various processes are stimulated in the process.
Fibroplasts are stimulated to form more collagen and elastin and new fibroplasts are even formed.
Tiny blood vessels are also generated to support wound healing and optimise the supply of nutrients to the tissue.
This also leads to the hair follicles being better supplied and stimulated.
This in turn can result in hair growth being stimulated and hair loss being slowed down or even stopped.
This process is significantly supported by the introduction of active ingredients via the small puncture channels created by the needles.
It is also important that you only use sterile serums, such as the sterile KAMI serum from Utsukusy, to avoid infections on the scalp.
The KAMI serum is ideal for stopping hair loss with needling. It also makes existing hair look much thicker, shinier and healthier.
Active ingredients of the KAMI serum from Utsukusy

- Sabal extract blocks the androgen receptors
- Purine effectively stimulates hair growth
- Pyrimidine protects the root
- Tocopherol improves blood flow
- Niacinamide regulates seborrhoeic activity
- Panthenol effectively repairs damaged hair

Using the KAMI serum to treat hair loss with the dermaroller
The maximum penetration depth of the needles should be 1.5 mm and should be chosen so that there is no bleeding.
The treatment should be carried out once a week for five weeks.
1. wet the hair with water
2. exfoliate the scalp for at least 5 minutes with KAMI Scrub - scalp peeling and then rinse with water

3. wash the hair twice with KAMI Shampoo

4. prepare the scalp to be treated for microneedling by disinfecting it with the KAMI disinfectant solution from Utsukusy

5. apply the KAMI Microneedling Serum to the scalp using gloves
6. treat the skin on the head with the Enpitsu Derma Pen or a suitable roller
7. cover hair and head with a warm towel for 10 minutes
8. dry the hair
During the week, i.e. until the next treatment appointment, another ampoule of KAMI Serum should be divided up so that the serum can be massaged into the scalp every other day after washing the hair with KAMI Shampoo.
However, our recommendations do not replace a visit to the doctor, as hair loss can also be caused by illnesses that require medical treatment.
Good to know:
When applying the KAMI serum, it can happen that the serum runs down and then over the face, neck or nape of the neck, for example.
Where the KAMI serum runs over the skin, the skin may take on a reddish colour.
This is not an allergic reaction, but the serum simply stimulates the blood circulation of the skin so that the affected areas are better supplied with nutrients and active ingredients.
This reddening of the skin disappears all by itself after a short time.
Frequently asked questions about scalp treatments with microneedling for hair loss and more beautiful hair
What effect does microneedling of the scalp have on hair loss?
Microneedling is an innovative technique for treating hair loss. In this procedure, tiny needles are used with a dermaroller or microneedling device to gently perforate the scalp. These micro-injuries stimulate the body's natural healing response, leading to increased production of collagen and other growth factors.
A key aspect of microneedling is its ability to improve blood circulation to the skin on the scalp. Improved blood circulation can help to better supply the hair follicles with oxygen and nutrients, which in turn can promote hair growth. In addition, needling can increase the effectiveness of topical hair growth products by improving their penetration into the scalp and thus acting directly on the hair roots.
Studies show that regular microneedling can lead to a thickening of the hair, especially in people with thinning hair. It is important to note that results vary from person to person and a professional consultation with a specialist or trained beautician is advisable before starting treatment. Microneedling is generally safe when used correctly, but as with any cosmetic procedure, there are risks and side effects that should be considered.
Are there any studies on the effectiveness of microneedling with a dermaroller for hair loss?
Microneedling stimulates the scalp by causing small injuries that stimulate a natural healing response in the body. This response can lead to the release of growth factors that activate hair follicles and potentially promote hair growth.
A 2018 study published in Dermatologic Surgery investigated the effectiveness of microneedling for alopecia areata, a form of hair loss. The study found that patients who regularly underwent microneedling experienced an improvement in hair density and hair growth without the use of other treatments.
A study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment (2013) found that participants who used microneedling in combination with a pharmaceutical achieved significantly better hair growth results than those who used the pharmaceutical alone.
How does microneedling with a dermaroller or dermapen work?
The theory behind microneedling is that the injury to the scalp causes an inflammatory reaction that stimulates the anagen phase of the hair growth cycle. This phase is responsible for the growth of new hair. With regular use, microneedling with a dermaroller or dermapen can help to make the scalp healthier and strengthen the hair follicles.
Important aspects
It is important to emphasise that results can vary from individual to individual and that microneedling is best performed under the supervision of professionals to avoid infection and other complications. Although this method is promising, people with certain skin conditions or a tendency to keloids should seek medical advice beforehand.
Safety and application
As with any treatment, it is important to use microneedling correctly and safely. Using a roller with the correct needle size and hygiene is crucial to avoid infection and other unwanted side effects.
To summarise, microneedling is an interesting option for people who suffer from hair loss and are looking for new methods to improve their hair growth. It is advisable to consult a dermatologist before use to ensure a safe and personalised treatment.
What is the right needle length for microneedling the hair or scalp?
When needling the scalp, the choice of needle length is crucial in order to achieve optimum results and avoid damaging the skin. It is generally recommended to use a maximum needle length of 1.5 mm. This length enables effective stimulation of the scalp. It is important to choose a needle length that treats the scalp effectively, but without taking unnecessary risks. The needle length should be chosen so that there is no bleeding. Less is often more: a shorter needle length may already be sufficient to promote skin regeneration and strengthen the hair roots.
Can I achieve a faster result with microneedling against hair loss with longer needles?
When needling against hair loss, one might assume that longer needles are more effective and lead to faster results. However, this assumption is not only misleading but also potentially harmful. Longer needles can reach deeper layers of the skin and therefore not only cause bleeding, but also inflammation and scarring. Such undesirable side effects can even worsen the situation instead of improving it.
Shorter needle lengths, typically no longer than 1.5 mm, are recommended for the treatment of hair loss. This length is sufficient to stimulate the scalp and activate the hair follicles without damaging the deeper layers of the skin. It is important to be patient and respect the natural process of skin regeneration. Regular application with appropriate needle lengths leads to better and safer results in the long term.
